    New commissioners will lead the second stage of the Covid-19 inquiry


    Chair Tony Blakely and John Whitehead will step down as commissioners of the first stage in November - after presenting their report.

    The second phase will expand the scope of the inquiry - and will be reported back in February 2026.

    Internal Affairs Minister Brooke van Velden says the new commissioners will be announced in August.

    She says she's looking for the new commissioners to have a range of experience from a legal, economic or health background.
