Cost of living remains front of mind for many Kiwis

Cost of living remains front of mind for many Kiwis

New Ipsos polling -- released exclusively to our newsroom -- shows it remains the biggest issue for Kiwis, with a quarter of respondents saying they're struggling financially.

New data, due out this week, is expected to show inflation has risen for the first time in almost three years.

Infometrics Principal Economist Brad Olsen says both prices and median incomes are considerably higher than they were before Covid.

He says many people may be hoping for prices for go back to what they were in 2019, but this simply won't happen.
