A final chapter looms for rugby league at its spiritual Christchurch home

Tonight's Anzac Day NRL fixture between the Warriors and Newcastle is set to be the last league match played at the temporary stadium, which sits on the old Addington Showgrounds site, and currently hosts rugby's Crusaders.

Canterbury Rugby League's lease began at the Showgrounds in 1951 ... it relocated to Nga Puna Wai in 2019 following the 2011 earthquakes.

Frank Endacott coached Canterbury to famous wins over Great Britain and Auckland at Addington in the 1990s.

He says the memories made at the ground will be cherished by many.

    Kickoff's at 5 past 8.
