New Zealand cricket coach Rob Walter has pledged to bridge the gap between Black Caps wanting to play internationals and earn a living on the global T20 circuit

The prime example in Walter's maiden test squad to tour Zimbabwe is the absence of Kane Williamson.

The 34-year-old is casually contracted to the governing body, and therefore prioritising an English county deal with Middlesex.
