An investigation's underway in Lower Hutt's Stokes Valley, after someone was allegedly shot this morning

Emergency services were called to Hanson Grove about 9am.

A 39-year-old man was found in a critical condition, and was airlifted to Wellington hospital.

Police say a dark-coloured vehicle was seen leaving the scene at speed, immediately after the incident.

They say extensive area enquiries have been carried out, however the vehicle hasn't been found.

Police are calling for any witnesses, particularly anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage in the Hanson Grove vicinity, or the main routes of Stokes Valley.
