Former National MP Harete Hipango is now a member of New Zealand First

Former National MP Harete Hipango is now a member of New Zealand First

Hipango is attending the party's conference in Palmerston North this weekend, which leader Winston Peters opened at 9am today.

She entered Parliament in 2017 after winning the Whanganui seat but wasn't able to retain it in 2020.

She then returned as a list MP in 2021.

In 2023, Hipango ran unsuccessfully for Maori electorate - Te Tai Hauauru.

Hipango was told off by Party Leader Chris Luxon in 2022 for attending an anti-vaccine and mandate protest and posting messages of support online.
