Brearna Kelsi Sloss was an acting sergeant when she was charged with the alleged thefts, back in 2022, and stood down from police.
Stuff reports the sworn police officer is denying 26 charges - the majority for theft by a person in a special relationship, and some of using a computer system for a dishonest purpose.
The Crown says she was caught by a colleague who found a purse with thousands of dollars on her desk - and checked different computer records, to find contradicting information.
