Kristen Bell wishes she had "butterflied around a little bit more" before marrying Dax Shepard

The 45-year-old actress - who tied the knot with the podcaster in October 2013 - is "a little regretful" about her lack of dating experience before she settled down with her spouse.

Kristen made the admission as she appeared on Dax's Armchair Expert podcast with her Nobody Wants This co-star Justine Lupe.

Justine told Dax and his co-host Monica Padman: "I didn't have a lot of like long-term relationships. I kind of did like six months, three months, like all through my 20s back-to-back."

Dax replied: "Kristen is a little regretful. She was very active.

"She was very sexually active, and she wishes she was even more sexually active."

His wife explained: "I just wish I butterflied around a little bit more."

Monica then quizzed the Frozen - star - who has daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 10, with her spouse - as to how active she was, with Dax giving a scale where zero was "virgin and 10 is sex worker."

She replied: "Four. And I just wish I maybe would have gone six."

Kristen credited her 50-year-old husband for having "brought out a ton of [her] sexuality."

She added: "I was never this sexual before you."

Meanwhile, Kristen previously revealed that she tries to set a positive example for her kids when it comes to arguing with her husband.

She told People magazine: "We always make up in front of them if anyone gets snarky or frustrated or fights, which we all do.

"We do not have the makeup, our conflict resolution, be behind closed doors. Even if at dinner, let's say, one of us is frustrated and is a little snarky and then we go to bed. We'll apologise to each other the next morning.

"Then we will apologise and make amends to each other in front of the kids so that they can see how conflict resolution actually happens."

Despite this, Kristen and Dax initially tried to adopt a hands-off approach to parenting.

The actress previously told TODAY: "When we had our first child, we said we wanted to be 'second child parents,' and we made an agreement that if she wanted to do something, as long as it didn't require a trip to the hospital, she'd be allowed to do it."
