Bay of Plenty's NPC semi finals berth has come at a cost for captain Kurt Eklund

Bay of Plenty's NPC semi finals berth has come at a cost for captain Kurt Eklund

The Steamers thumped the Tasman Mako 27-7 at home, but Eklund ended up with a nasty gash below his lip.

He's taken to social media to give a cheery update on his condition, but has all but confirmed he'll be unavailable for next weekend's semi.

Otago and Hawkes Bay join Bay of Plenty in the semis...with the Canterbury-Counties Manukau contest to be decided this afternoon.
