Cher is rumoured to be planning to tie the knot with toyboy Alexander 'AE' Edwards next year

A source has claimed the Believe hitmaker, 79, is keen to marry her 39-year-old partner, who is 40 years younger than her, around the same time of her 80th birthday, which is on May 20, 2026.

The insider told The Mirror: “Cher doesn’t give a hoot about their [40-year] age difference and they’re both ready to commit to each other.

“She sees her upcoming celebration at turning 80 as the perfect time for her and Alexander to seal the deal."

The report comes after Cher recently hit back at criticism of their age gap - insisting they are having "a blast".

During an interview on CBS Mornings, host Gayle King, 70, asked Cher about criticism over the age-gap, and the singer replied: "Whatever.

"They’re not living my life. Nobody knows what goes on between us, but we just have a blast.”

Cher then insisted Alexander has no issue with the age difference, saying: "No [he doesn't], thank God. He just says: 'You know, you get older, but your spirit is younger'.

"We laugh all the time, you know? I just love him. I think he’s beautiful. He’s really talented. He’s one of the most talented persons I’ve ever met.”

Cher also revealed she gets on well with Alexander's six-year-old son, Slash, from a previous relationship.

She said: "I used to say: 'God, give me a toddler and a man," before adding she got "exactly" what she asked for.

Speaking about Slash, Cher gushed: "He’s so funny. He’s so smart. He’s a delight."
Cher has been married twice before to late musicians Sonny Bono and Gregg Allman.

She had 56-year-old son, Chaz, with Sonny, and Elijah, 49, Gregg.
