In most cases, the airline is refusing to give cash refunds, and the only option for customers is a credit.

Air New Zealand chief revenue officer Cam Wallace says a credit is the best way for the airline to recover as a business.

He says it will give customers a chance to travel around the country- and the world - in future.

He says when borders reopen, customers can go to a range of destinations, and they can travel multiple times using the credit.
