Cyclone Alfred tracker map: When will it hit south-east Queensland?

Tropical Cyclone Alfred is expected to cross over the Moreton Bay Islands in the early hours of Saturday morning, bringing destructive winds and the risk of life-threatening flooding.

It is expected to cross the mainland coast between Noosa and Beenleigh later on Saturday.

The category two system is moving at a speed of about 7 kilometres per hour, according to the Bureau of Meteorology's 5:03pm AEST update.

• The current warning zone listed by BOM includes cities and towns from Double Island Point to Grafton, including Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Byron Bay and Ballina but not including Grafton.
• There is no current watch zone.
• People between Cape Moreton and Yamba, including the Moreton Bay Islands, should remain inside until conditions have eased and listen to the next advice.
• People between Yamba and Grafton in New South Wales, as well as Brisbane and Double Island Point in Queensland, should take precautions and listen to the next advice.
