Workers in other industries may be putting their feet up for a summer break, but hospitality is knuckling down for its busiest time of year

Workers in other industries may be putting their feet up for a summer break, but hospitality is knuckling down for its busiest time of year

Hospitality NZ says spending in Auckland lifted 13 percent from winter to summer last year - and jumped a significant 157 percent for holiday hotspots like Thames-Coromandel.

Spokesperson Sam Mackinnon says the seasonal revenue boost depends heavily on location.

He says it's a crucial time of year to ensure business have enough cash in the bank to get through the down season - and recover from some of the economic challenges of the past few years.
