    [USA Votes: live election results]

Donald Trump has clinched the presidency with victories in battleground states North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan.

With two states still to call, the former president has secured 295 electoral college votes to defeat his Democratic rival Kamala Harris.

Trump took the stage to address supporters in Florida, at about 2:30am on Wednesday, local time.

Meanwhile, Harris conceded her election loss to Trump, telling supporters it was not a time to despair.

Check the ABC News state map here to see how the states have voted.

When will Trump be sworn in?

On January 20, 2025 — otherwise known as Inauguration Day.

Did Trump win the popular vote?

The popular vote is the total number across the entire country of how many people voted for each candidate.

As votes are still being counted, we don't officially know if Trump has won.

But at the time of writing, he leads Harris by almost 5 million votes.

Can Trump run for president again in 2028?

    No.

Under the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution, which was ratified in 1951, Trump is barred from seeking the presidency for a third time.
