Katie Thurston's cancer has spread to her liver

The 34-year-old star revealed in February that she'd been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer but after she received the news on Friday (28.03.25) that the disease has spread, it has now been classified as "scary" stage 4

She said in a video shared to Instagram: "After days of waiting, unfortunately, I did find out today that my breast cancer has spread to the liver.

"It is fairly small, however it does put me at stage four."

The former 'Bachelorette' star will begin a "new treatment plan", including chemotherapy, from 4 April.

She added: "I know stage four can sound very scary, and it can be.

"However, given that I am triple positive and the spots on my liver are fairly small and detected early, I feel very optimistic on my outcome."

Katie - who married Jeff Arcuri last weekend - also explained she had had to undergo "a lot of testing" before starting her treatment.

She captioned her post: "43 days since diagnosis and still no treatment? There is a lot of testing and prep that goes into cancer treatment. One important test is checking to see if the cancer has metastasized (spread). Unfortunately for me, mine has and I am now #stage4breastcancer . I'll finally start my treatment next week. #breastcancersupport #breastcancer (sic)"

Katie then took to her Instagram Story where she answered questions from followers about her treatment.

She said: "Treatment is spaced out as six treatments to start, three weeks apart.

"A treatment is essentially a dedicated day to travel/infusions/recovery."

Katie explained the plan for her live is "essentially the same" as the one for her breasts because "the cancer that is within the liver is from the breast cancer spreading vs a new type of cancer."

The confirmation came a few days after Katie revealed her treatment had been put on hold so she could undergo further testing after spots were found on her liver.

She explained via her Instagram Story that her doctor "seemed to be leaning more on the cancer in the liver versus optimistic it was nothing. This would put me at stage 4".

The reality star has asked for some advice from her followers "who are stage 4 in terms of quality of life, motherhood, etc".

Katie added that "two liver lesions" have been discovered, explaining that the lesions are likely to be a sign of "metastatic disease".
