Glenn Close has insisted her new drama series All's Fair is "pretty f***ing good" - despite a barrage of negative reviews

The 78-year-old actress has shot to the defence of the Hulu legal drama - in which she stars opposite Kim Kardashian, Niecy Nash-Betts, Sarah Paulson, Naomi Watts and Teyana Taylor - insisting the series is "juicy and outrageous at times and touching".

She told The Guardian newspaper: "I swear to God, I've seen all nine episodes and it's pretty f***ing good.

"It is what it is: it's juicy and outrageous at times and touching."

Kim's acting has also been blasted by some, but Glenn insisted the 45-year-old star was "lovely" to work with and is "very smart".

Close added: "She's lovely! And very smart. Very, very conscientious with her kids.

"When we were filming she was going through working towards her law degree, and near the end she would have flashcards.

"She now has her law degree, and I asked her, 'Are you going to practise? And she said, 'No, I just want it in my back pocket.' "

Asked if Kim had any acting background, Glenn said: "No."

Indicating to herself, Glenn then joked: "But she surrounded herself with really good people."

Glenn recently admitted she was "very impressed" with Kim when working alongside her.

Earlier this month, she told Newsweek: "I hope when they see the show that they get value from it. And I have to say, I'm very impressed with Kim.

"I mean she is a kind, incredibly smart woman who came to this project with great humility. She said, 'I'm not gonna ever make anybody wait, and I'm gonna always know my lines,' which is basically 101 professional, right?

"But I just heard in one of the interviews - I was with her today - she would be talking with an acting coach after wrap, it could have been 11:30 at night, to prepare for the next day.

"I mean, not everybody does that."

At the time of writing, All's Fair has a four per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer, a measurement of critical entertainment recommendation by professional critics.
