People taking permitted travel to the south of Auckland late this evening are being advised by police to delay it if at all possible, due to a major protest hikoi

There are likely to be road closures put in place to stop those involved attempting to unlawfully cross the Auckland boundary.

The planned hikoi intends to travel from Rotorua to Northland

People taking part are being warned any travel across the Auckland boundary not specifically permitted by the Health order requires an exemption.

Police say there will be an increased presence at the Auckland boundary and those deliberately breaching alert level restrictions will face enforcement action.
