Many New Zealanders who suffer with migraines aren't getting the best treatment options

Many New Zealanders who suffer with migraines aren't getting the best treatment options

A new report in the New Zealand Medical Journal found of more than 500 people with migraines, about a quarter of aren't taking acute medication in line with international guidelines.

Report Author and co-founder of the Migraine Foundation, Fiona Imlach, says there's a clear need for better medications - but they're not avaliable here.

She says if there was better medicine funding, it would cover some of the new mediations known to be more effective and safer.
