Biosecurity NZ has finished its fruit fly response on Auckland's North Shore

All restrictions around fruit and vegetables in the suburb of Birkdale and surrounding areas have been lifted.

A single male Oriental fruit fly was discovered during backyard surveillance on February 20.

Biosecurity carried out more than 2000 visits to traps and checked almost a ton of fruit for signs of eggs or larvae.

Biosecurity New Zealand is thanking affected locals for their cooperation.
