Survivors of abuse in state care are expressing dismay at changes to the redress system

Survivors of abuse in state care are expressing dismay at changes to the redress system

The Government's allocating 774 million dollars from this months Budget towards increasing redress payments, top ups and boosting the state care system.

It's gone against advice from the Royal Commission of Inquiry to develop a new independent scheme - in collaboration with survivors.

Survivor Keith Wiffin, says it's a slap in the face.

He says we have a minuscule top up to an existing rotten system - governed by the same group of officials who have always made survivor's lives difficult.
