A re-entry of political heavy hitters, stepping up to scrutinise the Government's pay equity changes

A re-entry of political heavy hitters, stepping up to scrutinise the Government's pay equity changes

Ten former women MPs have set up a "People's Select Committee" looking into the legislation rushed through under urgency - avoiding consultation.

It cancelled claims and raised the bar, particularly affecting historically underpaid women - saving the Government billions of dollars.

They include Marilyn Waring, Sue Bradford, Nanaia Mahuta, and Lianne Dalziel.

Waring says there's no need for one leader.

She says there'll be a rotating chair, as between them they have more than 100 years of select committee experience.
