Pleas for more donations of blood plasma - for use in life-saving medicines

Pleas for more donations of blood plasma - for use in life-saving medicines

The Blood Service is looking for more donors of the product used in immunoglobulin medicines to treat blood disorders and immune deficiencies.

CEO Sam Cliffe says they're forecasting six-thousand new donors are needed by next June to meet demand.

She says earlier diagnosis of disorders means they need more of the medicine to keep people well and saves their lives.
