A warning to be vigilant as people are posing as police officers in an attempt to scam victims

Police are warning fake cops are ringing people, with a fake story about locating a personal valuable item, like a passport, and asking for personal information.

Previously, people have been asked to withdraw money in a similar fake cop scam attempt.

Police say they will never ask for your bank details, or ask someone to withdraw their own money from an ATM.
