Two 36 year old women are accused of assaulting a police officer who pulled them over

Nearly two weeks ago, a motorways unit stopped a vehicle on the Southern Motorway, near Penrose.

Police say one officer was assaulted, and taken to hospital with moderate injuries.

Another unit quickly arrived and arrested two women - who've appeared in the Auckland District Court on charges of resisting police and injuring with intent.

They'll reappear in two weeks.
