Confirmation the final cost of cancelling the Interisland mega-ferries project -- came to 671-million-dollars

Minister for Rail Winston Peters has confirmed Hyundai's dockyard received a net 144-million-dollar final settlement for the canned project, for two new purpose-built ferries.

Including that settlement payment, the dockyard's been paid a total of 222 million dollars.

Originally, 300 million dollars was provisioned to cover the potential cost including settlement.

The remaining 449-million dollar cost is for land-side infrastructure, project management, and wind-down costs.
