Dunedin City Council's slammed what it calls 'false and misleading' claims about natural hazards in South Dunedin

A local newspaper suggests the area faces no hazards, that flooding is caused by Council-owned pipes and pumps, and the Council would be liable for future property damage.
The Council's taken to Facebook to set the record straight.
It says research from NIWA and Otago University's found the area's at risk from flooding, rising groundwater, and coastal erosion.
Council says its pipes and pumps work - but heavy rainfall can overwhelm the network.
