A local tour boat skipper says the bush near the Coromandel cliff where a young person died after falling is pretty thick

They were found at the bottom of a cliff face at Hahei Beach in critical condition by emergency services just after 8 last night.

They later died at the scene while a second young person was rescued from the cliff.

Hahei Explorer skipper, Tim Bright says the rock structures in the area quite broken and crumbly.

He says the ground kind of curves into a cliff, gradually getting steeper until it's vertical.
