    Otago University's infamous Hyde Street Party went off without a hitch


    Thousands of costumed students packed out the North Dunedin street on Saturday, for the annual event.

    It's had controversies over time - most notably, when an overcrowded roof caved-in in 2012.

    Police monitored the event to ensure the safety of those involved - and say there were no incidents of note or any arrests at this year's event.

    It's a turnaround from St Patrick's Day - when students marked the Irish holiday with fireworks, couch fires and burning a wallaby.
