The Crusaders have revealed prop Fletcher Newell played through the Super Rugby final with a significant knee injury

The Crusaders have revealed prop Fletcher Newell played through the Super Rugby final with a significant knee injury

Newell was influential for the full 80 minutes in the 16-12 win over the Chiefs.

Assistant coach Dan Perrin revealed the 22-test prop's status.

Newell allayed any concern as the Crusaders celebrated a record-extending 15th title.

A grade two tear can take four to six weeks to heal, meaning Newell could miss the upcoming All Blacks tests against France.
