A man has pleaded guilty to his role in a four-million dollar ponzi scheme on the eve of facing trial with his wife

The Serious Fraud Office charged Thomas Alexander Tuira, known as Alex, and his wife, Aroha Awhinanui Tuira, in May 2023 with 115 counts of obtaining by deception.

The SFO says they used the money to pay other investors, or for personal and business expenses.

His wife has pleaded not guilty and will go on trial in the High Court at Christchurch on Monday.
