Australia's Logan Martin wins third BMX freestyle world championship

Logan Martin overcomes the disappointment of his Paris Olympics campaign to claim a third BMX freestyle world championship.

Australia's Logan Martin has overcome the disappointment of his Paris Olympics campaign to win his third BMX freestyle world championship.

Martin triumphed with a score of 94.30 in his second run of the final in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

He produced a score of 91.10 in his first run after qualifying for the final in sixth place.

Martin added the victory to his world titles from 2017 and 2021, and his 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold.

"I'm absolutely stoked," said Martin, who finished ninth at the Paris Olympics after crashing in the final.

"I really wanted to pull my first run. I landed that run and then it was all or nothing.

"I had to go out there and send it.

"I was in the first group so there was a lot more guys to go after me, so I had to go out and really send it in my second run and that run really paid off and that's the one that won.

"I'm absolutely stoked to win my third world championship."

Meanwhile, fellow Australians Natalya Diehm and Sarah Nicki finished inside the top 10 in the women's final.

Diehm, who won bronze at the Paris Olympics, was ninth with a score of 85.28, while Nicki finished 10th with 84.30.

American Hannah Roberts won her sixth BMX freestyle world championship with a score of 95.70.
