Danielle Fishel has always been "very hard on [herself]"

The 44-year-old actress - who is currently competing on Dancing with the Stars - has revealed that she's "actively work on" being more "proud" of herself and her career achievements

The former Boy Meets World star told Extra: "Being proud of myself is something I actively work on. It doesn't come naturally to me.

"Being very hard on myself comes naturally to me, and that's benefited me in my life. Like, I can see the pros of that. You know, it makes me work hard ... It's part of the reason I've had success.

"On the other hand, when I do something well, my next thought is like, 'Okay, what's the next thing I have to do?'"

Danielle is loving her experience on Dancing with the Stars, and she's determined to feel "proud" of herself at the end of her journey on the show.

She said: "Dancing with the Stars has been such a gift for me. And I when I came into it, I said, 'If I just take one thing out of it, I just want to be able to be proud and I also want to give myself grace and I'm learning both of them."

Danielle was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2024, and after undergoing treatment, she jumped at the chance to join Dancing with the Stars.

The actress explained how her health scare prompted a change in attitude.

She previously told People: "The minute I was done with my cancer treatment, I thought to myself, 'If this has shown me anything, it has shown me that I am not experiencing enough joy in my life.'"

Danielle is now determined to have more "fun" in her day-to-day life.

The actress - who is best known for playing Topanga Lawrence in Boy Meets World - said: "I'm going through every day, performing tasks and being there for my family and being there for work. Where's the fun?

"When they asked me to do this, I was like, 'This is the perfect way to cap it off.'"
