Rebecca Ferguson is still searching for a career-defining role

The 42-year-old actress thinks she's been "super blessed" during her career, starring in movies such as The Girl on the Train, Life, and the Mission: Impossible film franchise - but Rebecca admits that she has "yet to find that thing"

Speaking to The Independent, Rebecca explained: "I'm still looking for it. I've been super blessed with the jobs I've done, but I have yet to find that thing."

Despite this, Rebecca isn't sure if she'll ever feel truly fulfilled as an actress.

She said: "Have Daniel Day-Lewis or Isabelle Huppert found that thing? Did Mikey Madison feel it with Anora? Was there a moment when they went, 'Yes - this is what I yearn for'?"

Rebecca confessed to being someone who always seeks "sensations".

The actress reflected: "I just watched One Battle After Another, and it's f****** fantastic, and I think, 'Yes! That's what I want to do!' And I remember watching Anora and just going, 'F***! I want to play a stripper!' I seek sensations. Something that gets inside of me and just f****** twirls my intestines up like spaghetti. I want to experience something guttural."

Rebecca previously explained that she makes a concerted effort to make her performances "truthful".

The actress admitted that her lack of formal training has actually shaped how she approaches her work.

She told ELLE Canada: "I'm not trained as an actor. I have a way. When you're not trained, you have to find your way around and it needs to be truthful. I just try to make [my performance] truthful.

"I tread into these characters and listen. I listen intently to my co-actors. When someone listens intently and makes a point of what they're saying, they sound strong. They come with a power."

Rebecca was cast in Nya Tider, a Swedish soap opera, when she was just 15, and that experience played a big role in her evolution.

She said: "I definitely was taught to learn lines very fast - quick acting, quick reactions to things. It was like going to school. I was doing this thing that I liked doing, and I was doing it with incredible actors."
