The chase for victory is on for the Black Caps in the first cricket test against Sri Lanka

The chase for victory is on for the Black Caps in the first cricket test against Sri Lanka

The visitors are 13 for 1 at lunch on day four in Galle - needing 262 more runs to win.

It comes after New Zealand dismissed the hosts for 309 in their second innings - spinner Ajaz Patel finishing with six wickets.

Devon Conway is the lone New Zealand wicket to fall - bowled in the second over for just four.

Meanwhile - one of the White Ferns more acclimatised players is hoping to build on her success when they face Australia in tonight's second T20 in Mackay.

Bowler Molly Penfold spent two seasons in the Queensland T20 competition - and took two wickets in the game one loss to Australia.

Penfold says her time across the ditch was invaluable.

First ball is set for at 10 past 9.

In the NPC - Tasman kicked a last-gasp penalty to beat Waikato 27-25, Auckland beat Southland 27-19 and Otago overcome Manawatu 28-10.

Joseph Parker's making his intent clear to challenge British world champion Daniel Dubois - after his stunning knockout of Anthony Joshua.

The big Brit's retained the IBF belt by stopping his countryman in the fifth round in front of 96 thousand at Wembley.

After watching from ringside - Kiwi contender Parker's told the Herald he's keen to be the next man to have a crack at Dubois.
