Henry Nicholls has been summoned to Napier for the opening game of New Zealand's one-day international series against Pakistan as an injury replacement for Tom Latham.

Rhys Mariu has also been called in to cover Will Young's paternity leave, but won't join until after his domestic duties in the capital.

Coach Peter Fulton's confirmed their bowling stocks have been bolstered after New Zealand's T20 series triumph.

Canterbury are third, nine points behind leaders Northern Districts who are away to Otago.
