New TradeMe data show 40% of us plan to leave our jobs this year, up from 20% a year ago.

At the same time, 84 percent of employees surveyed are open to new job opportunities.

Head of Jobs Nicole Williams says there are several factors driving the interest in something new.

Ms Williams says there's been a switch from the hunker down mentality, to motivation around career opportunities and an enthusiasm to relocate if possible.
