Katy Perry and her dog are going vegan

The 'I Kissed a Girl' hitmaker urged her followers to "pray for" her as she and her beloved poodle Nugget take the plunge in cutting all animal-based products out of their diets, having dabbled with a plant-based eating regime over the last few months

She tweeted: "I’m about 95% ready to be 100% VEGAN… my dog Nugget has been joining me on this journey for the past 4 monthz. Pray for us ok (sic)"

Katy has previously admitted her fiance Orlando Bloom - with whom she has five-month-old daughter Daisy - always encouraged her to look after herself better, including by following a vegan diet.

She said: “He’s always trying to get me to go hike, or do yoga or eat vegan."

But after joking she preferred Taco Bell, she insisted differences in a relationship are not necessarily a bad thing.

She said: "There’s a balance. I think when you’re attracted to someone, it’s sort of like how opposites attract. I’m looking for that balance.”

During her pregnancy, the 'Never Worn White' hitmaker admitted she'd gone off eating beef.

She said: "Actually a food that grosses me out now is beef. Not really into red meat, but thank God for Impossible Burger because that basically tastes like red meat and when I do want it, I do that.”

Meanwhile, although Katy went back to work just six weeks after giving birth in order to shoot a music video, the 36-year-old pop star recently insisted her daughter will always be her main priority.

She said: "She'll always be the number one most important thing ever, naturally. But I love being a working mom. I don't think there's anything negative about it. It's like, 'Wow, you can do that and that?' All right! That's a woman, you know?"
