A firefighter says a local truck being offline had an impact on a fire in Parnell

A firefighter says a local truck being offline had an impact on a fire in Parnell

Two people were injured in the apartment fire in the Auckland suburb yesterday.

Professional Firefighters Union Auckland Local President and City Central Senior Station Officer Sulu Devoe says the city team responded as Parnell's first responding truck was out of commission due to staff issues.

He says by the time they got there the fire was coming out a sliding door and the ground floor was totally involved.

Fire and Emergency Region Manager Ron Devlin says there was no delay.

He says a truck from Parnell station and another covering for an unavailable appliance at Parnell arrived within six minutes - well within the standard and were fully equipped.
