The first disaster resilience projects for Auckland are a step closer to reality

The first disaster resilience projects for Auckland are a step closer to reality

Auckland Council has endorsed two projects in south and west Auckland.

The Mangere plan will increase capacity for two creeks - reducing the risk of flooding for 244 properties.

And in Muriwai, adaptations will include installing a stop-bank on Domain Crescent, upgrading roadside drains and installing sediment and debris traps - to reduce blockages.

It'll reduce flooding risk for 60 properties.

The projects are costed at about 58 million dollars and expected to go to public consultation late this month.
