Several parts of the country are being warned to brace for stormy conditions

MetService is warning people in Westland, the Richmond and Bryant Ranges, north-west Tasman, and Mount Taranaki to prepare for heavy rain.

It's also issued watches for Southland, Otago, the Buller and Grey Districts, the northern Gisborne District, Bay of Plenty, and the Coromandel Peninsula

Snowfall is possible in the Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes area.

Up to six centimetres of snow is expected on the Lindis Pass, Crown Range Road and Milford Road tonight.
