Chinese fifth seed Qinwen Zheng has downed Romanian Anca Todoni 7-6 6-1 to progress through to the second round of the Australian tennis Open in Melbourne

Zheng is crediting Todoni's fight in the opening set, on Sky.

17-year-old 14th seed Mirra Andreeva has beaten Marie Bouzkova 6-3 6-3 at John Cain Arena.
