Frankie Muniz is always trying to be a "better" dad

The 39-year-old actor has three-year-old son Mauz with his partner Paige Price and while he is enjoying fatherhood immensely, he is constantly looking for ways to improve himself

He told People: "I know - eventually he'll be like, 'Dad, get away.' You know what I mean? Right now, all he wants is to be with me. I love it. I am always striving to be the best dad I can be. I think I am a good dad, but I always feel like I can be better. So just trying to be there."

Away from his career on screen, the former 'Malcolm in the Middle' star has a secondary career as a racecar driver and admitted that his partner and son were his inspiration to get back into the sport after more than a decade away.

He said: "I went back to racing with him in mind. I wanted him to see me striving for something that's difficult!

Despite this, Frankie - who drives full-time for Reaume Brothers Racing - admitted that one of the drawbacks of the job is that it can take him away from his loved ones for extended periods of time, although he tries to incorporate them as much as he can.

He said: "It has taken me away from my family a lot. I'm on the road 300 days a year and I try to bring [Paige and Mauz] as much as I can, but it's not the easiest thing.

"We got this RV to live in that we'll bring to the racetrack. We'll basically be at home and get to go on adventures in between the races. And I think we're going to have a lot of fun. So I'm looking forward to that."
