More than two years' prison time for an experienced Rangitikei farmer, over preventable lamb deaths

Welfare inspectors found dozens of dead sheep in Peter Valentine's six properties - and hundreds of others malnourished and hit by parasites and fly-strike.
MPI says Valentine did little to manage a growing fly-strike problem, despite written warnings.
The 63-year old has been sentenced to 28 months in jail and is banned from being in charge of animals.
He must also pay vet fees topping 10-thousand dollars.
