Two people are facing the courts accused of stealing a quarter-of-a-million dollars of goods across Auckland

Police say the pair were arrested hours after the new Tactical Retail Crime Unit began operations in Auckland on Monday.

The 37-year-old man and 28-year-old woman are accused of regularly targeting high value items.

They're due in Auckland District Court in two weeks - collectively facing 14 shoplifting and burglary charges.
