A rise in building consents is being viewed as a positive sign by the construction sector

A rise in building consents is being viewed as a positive sign by the construction sector

Stats NZ data shows more than 37-hundred new homes were consented in September - up 27 percent compared with the same month last year.

When seasonal effects are excluded, consents were up 7.2 percent compared with August.

New Zealand Certified Builders Chief Executive Malcolm Fleming says the pipeline of building projects is starting to increase.

He says 2027 SHOULD bring the lift the industry's been waiting for.
