It's unclear if efforts will be made to bring a prolific Canterbury conman and sex offender back into the country

It's unclear if efforts will be made to bring a prolific Canterbury conman and sex offender back into the country

Wayne Eaglesome, who is now known as Alexander Luce but has used other aliases over the years, has failed to appear in court on new charges because he's left New Zealand.

With a string of previous convictions, he was most recently released from jail in October last year.

Eaglesome was due to appear the Auckland District Court earlier this year on charges for breaching his bail conditions.

But his lawyer has this week confirmed he's in Laos, in South East Asia.

Police would not be drawn on whether efforts would be made to force his return to Auckland.
