Flooding continues in Northern Queensland - but rain didn't reach predicted peaks overnight

Flooding continues in Northern Queensland - but rain didn't reach predicted peaks overnight

North-eastern parts have had about a metre of rain since Friday, and a woman was killed when a rescue boat hit a tree and capsized.

Six flood-prone suburbs of Townsville are under evacuation orders.

Local Disaster Management Group Chair Andrew Robinson says the weather's had some improvement.

He says latest Bureau of Meteorology weather reports suggest last night's rain was less than forecast, which is great news.
