    Quick Sports Summary

    Quick Sports Summary

    - article from www.rugbyleague.co.nz

The Times of London reports the Middle Eastern nations want to host the sport's showpiece in either 2035 or 2039.

The report suggests the bidding countries would push for the World Cup to start in December with a final in January.

The bidding process for the 2035 edition of the tournament is expected to start in the next two years - Italy and Spain are other likely bidders.

Waratahs fullback Max Jorgensen is likely out of the rest of the Super Rugby season, with confirmation he will need surgery on the injured ankle he suffered against the Hurricanes.

Jorgensen was escorted from the field early in the match when his left ankle was trapped under Hurricanes back-rower Brayden Iose as he swung around the Waratahs player's legs.

Czech teenager Jakub Mensik has announced himself on the world stage, beating Novak Djokovic to claim his first ATP Title.

Mensik, who reached the ASB Classic quarter-finals earlier this year, outmuscled the 37-year-old Serbian 7-6 7-6 after rain delayed the final nearly six hours.

Djokovic was battling an eye infection but says he has no excuses.

Penrith's challenging start to the NRL season is about to get even tougher with winger Brian To'o expected to miss the next month with a hamstring injury.

Coach Ivan Cleary, whose side have got off to an underwhelming start to their premiership defence with just one win from four starts says To'o is likely out for a month.

The good news is that halfback Nathan Cleary is expected to return from concussion against North Queensland on Friday.
