Grey smoke is engulfing a shopping area in Auckland's Glenn Innes - leading to traffic delays in the area

Smoke has been billowing out of commercial buildings on Mayfair Place - with the road cordoned off.

It appears to be coming from a Ministry of Social Development office.

About half a dozen fire trucks have been seen in the area, accompanied by ambulances and police.

Police say the fire is contained and there are no reports of injury.
