Customs has seized 157 kilograms of cocaine at the Port of Tauranga

Customs has seized 157 kilograms of cocaine at the Port of Tauranga

Officers teamed up with Police and the Navy on Sunday, to search a container vessel which had arrived from Panama.

Several containers had been deemed suspicious - with 129 bricks of cocaine, weighing up to one kilogram each, found in two of them.

Four days earlier 28 bricks of cocaine were found on another vessel from Panama.

The drugs would have had a collective street value of about 61 million-dollars.
